Handy Manny : Motorcycle Adventure Review & Giveaway

I was fortunate enough to receive a preview copy of Disney's Handy Manny : Motorcycle Adventure for review.

About the DVD

Manny is on his way to a family reunion, when a twist of fate sees three of his tools stuck inside a hardware truck.

Pat (hammer) has been feeling a bit lost without any family of the hammer variety.  It is while filling up at a gas station that he spots a 'cousin' inside a Hardware truck.  Pat jumps into the truck to investigate, along with Squeeze (pliers) and Flicker (flashlight).   Before they know it, the hardware truck has left the gas station, with them still inside.

Manny hits the road in search of his missing tools, while still trying to make it to his family reunion.

I won't tell you any more, as - let's face it - these days, kids animated DVD's are made for adults too, so I'd hate to spoil the storyline for you!

Don't miss the scene with Zip (wrench) and the ducks.  One of my favourites, but I may be a little biased, as Zip is my favourite tool.

There's lots of the usual catchy songs you'd expect from a Handy Manny movie, which will see your kids bopping along.  Or, at least, mine did.  It was nice to see them grooving to something a bit more age appropriate than Lady Gaga or Britney Spears for a change.

The verdict

Handy Manny shall forever be known as VERY Handy Manny in my household.

I rate a childrens' DVD by the volume of coffee I'm able to consume before I have to go find a twin, or break up a fight, or confiscate a pen, or something inedible that is being consumed.  My kids' attention span - and, therefore, my relaxation - is the almighty yardstick by which I rate kids entertainment.

VERY Handy Manny had the twin tornado mesmerised....wait for it....the whole way through.  The.  Whole.  Way.  Through.  This is almost unheard of.  We're talking a full 45 minutes of uninterrupted relaxation.  I did not have to raise myself from the chair once.  Except to get my second cup of hot coffee.  That's right, HOT coffee.  Not one single interruption sent my coffee cold.  I actually had to blow on it to make it cool enough to sip (instead of gulping it cold) for the first time since I had kids.

Huge thumbs up from me and my kids.  Now I just need to work out exactly how many times I can play it as my chosen babysitter toddler television viewing time, before they start to recite the whole thing back verbatim.

The best part - Win a copy for yourself!

Porter Novelli have been generous enough to provide me with an additional copy of Handy Manny : Motorcycle Adventure to give away.

That's right, you too could have 45 minutes of golden silence and stillness (if you put it on repeat you will get an entire hour and a half....be still my beating heart...).
