Target Shoes: How to justify shoe shopping plus a giveaway

I am hearting Target really hard right now.

I was recently advised that they have Super Target in the US.  It has everything a girl's heart could desire - booze, the usual Target wares, food, aisles dedicated to Hello Kitty and $1 items, and it also has booze and a Starbucks.

I AM MOVING IN THERE WHEN I HIT CHICAGO FOR BLOGHER13.

I do hope they have a camping section, so that I may have some privacy when I find time to sleep in between all the shopping and boozing and Starbucksing.

Aside from that, my Target loving has always extended to their shoes.  We've just had our first bit of lovely Spring weather here in Perth, and I was left examining my shoe collection for something to wear.  It was all kinds of tragic.  Tragic circa 1992.

So I jumped online when I heard that Target's extensive shoe collection is available online.  There is nothing better to drown out the sounds of The Feral Threesome attempting to enact natural selection upon one another than going to a combination of two of my happy places - online and shopping.

There were so many gorgeous pairs of shoes.  My spirits soared, and I didn't even notice The Feral Threesome pummelling one another.  It turned into quite the lovely afternoon.

But it wasn't enough.  So as soon as #1Hubby got home from work I made a quick trip to my local Target under the guise of 'ducking to the shop for the two B's' - Booze and Broccoli.  The booze is a given, as if #1Hubby would object to me going out for wine.  The broccoli was a tactical move, as the fruit and veg shop is opposite Target.  My plan was to innocently stumble in the wrong direction and find myself at the back of the store where the shoe section is.  While looking for broccoli.

So while the natives were restless and ready to eat each other as it neared dinner time at home, I went to Target.  For broccoli.

I got these on-trend watermelon wedges for a very affordable $40:

They are officially 'coral' in colour, but I'm going with watermelon because it fits this post and that's what I call the colour, okay?

I was tossing up between those lovelies and a pair of these flats:
Not wanting to clue #1Hubby in to my real reason for shopping, I put my new shoes on in the car so that he wouldn't see any tell-tale shopping bags.  I grabbed a bottle of red wine and made my way home, waving the wine around to distract him from my shoes of awesome.

Mstr3 immediately came up and said "Nice shoes Mummy.  They're like Super Batman shoes."

Complete with a solemn nod of approval.

Super Batman, for those of you not in the know, is the highest being in all of the world, above all else including SpongeBob and Tiny Teddy biscuits.  We're talking serious high praise.

Miss3 and Miss6 both joined in, confirming they had never ever seen these nice new shoes before.

And they would both know, since they wear my collection of shoes more than I do.

#1Hubby raised his brows, and asked where the broccoli was.

Without hesitation I replied: "I got watermelon instead..."

And that, my friends, is how you justify new shoes as sustenance.  Because they are - sustenance for the soul.  Full of all the soul-nurturing goodness that watermelon provides your physical self.  Kind of.

In a freaky twist of awesome, Target sent me this:

No kidding, they sent me at random both of my favourites from the extensive Target shoe collection.

Clearly this is a relationship made in heaven, and the day they send me George Clooney is the day I will tattoo the Target logo on my person. In a location of their choosing.

What does all of this mean to you?

A couple of things

1.  You can shoe shop til your heart's content with Target online.  Target has always been a reasonably priced shop of choice for me, but I love that their online shop also has both a Clearance and Below Cost section.

2.  Target have an awesome collection of shoes, and clearly their affordable pricing means you should get more than one pair.

3.  I have a giveaway so that you too can indulge in shoe soul sustenance!

For your chance to win a $50 Target giftcard:

1.  Follow this blog.  Otherwise how else would you know that by linking booze and broccoli to shoes, you get justifiable shopping while you should be at home preparing dinner?

2.  Head to Target online for bargains, bras, books, boots and all things B...but not broccoli.  Check out their latest shoe offerings, then come back here and comment with which pair makes your own soul sing.

3.  For extra entries, share the competition on The Book and/or The Bird

  5. Ah shoes! My first love! All shoes are my fave but I'm particularly loving your snakeskin ones. Very cute! I've always been a very high heel girl due to my lack of height but I've slowly converted to the practical but cute flats way of thinking.

I loved the 'Jacqui Leather Flat Shoes - Red', I really need to start buying shoes in fun colours instead of 'practical' colours. I walk a lot so the fact that they're flat and comfy is great!

  30. Daze Laser Cut-Out Thong- White as I can dress them up or dress them down, they will always look stylish with whatever I wear. They are cool and summery.

  31. The Josie Flat Shoe in Red. I love these because I have the disgusting condition of Morton's Toe (my second toes are longer than my first). It looks hideous. I hate it, and that's why I freak out in summer when my feet are meant to be on show. I avoid it at all costs. That's why I love these so much. They look great, and I could get away with teaming these with shorts or dresses throughout summer, without the weird stares I got last year (Ok, so Dr Martens at the beach was a fail for me, I admit it now!) And as an added bonus, the fact that they are named Josie, which was the name of my hubby's secretary, who had a crush on my hubby, seems fitting. The fact that with every step I take, I can say "Josie".STOMP. "Josie." STOMP. Yes, I like that.

  34. Hehehe, hope you love the Super Target as much as I do. As far as the shoes....I'm seriously in love with the Atlanta Cork Wedge. I am very sure I would be able to cook, clean, run after Mr 5, rescue the cat from under the bed (don't ask) and maybe even sleep in them. But I would try really hard to get them out for more exciting trips.

  35. Those Morgan Raffia Wedges look like my style - no risk of falling from a great height, having a Brittany-style stumble while carrying the Little Sister and no sinking into the grass at the farm. Great giveaway - I love Target!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Brittany Flat Shoes. They may not make my soul sing, but they are just perfect for work. I'm on my feet all day, so I need flat comfortable shoes. Finding ones that are both comfortable, and still look good isn't always easy, but these look great!

  47. I would really like to get a pair of Delite Slip-on Flats Black Ballet shoes. They are beautiful and go with everything.

  48. Tessa Woven Strap Sandals: they have a Gladiatorial feel about them which reminds me of how Russell Crowe bulldozes through life (and press packs) which is just the inspiration I need to deal with telemarketers who ring at dinnertime. Also, they looked great with his leather mini skirt so should be great for accessorising.
