You're welcome.
In advance.
I always associated Corningware with white dishes that the CWA ladies used to make casseroles and puddings for fundraising.
Imagine my, if I'm honest, quite OTT excitement to receive this:
From the Corningware Etch Collection

Grass 2.35L Casserole with Glass Lid & Grass 207ml Ramekin Twin Pack |
Firstly,
OMG, I love me some funky green
ANYTHING.
Except the other kind of funky green stuff that my kids often
hand over/smear on my person.
So I thought about what would be appropriate to adorn such a cute green dish.
Clearly
not one of my sloppy, slapped together casseroles that I force the kids
to eat, because it contains 487 different veg and will make them super
smart and talented and wealthy enough to take care of me while I sip
cocktails and float around the world living on a cruise ship, backside
firmly planted in front of a poker machine in the on-board casino between games of bingo.
Not that I've thought much about it or anything.
Truth be told, I was a little apprehensive about cooking anything in my new Corningware.
Really, I loved it that much.
And so instead, I thought about what I could grace it with, drape over it, place delicately inside it.
I present to you, the prettiest dish ever:
The George Clooney Casserole**
![]() |
Hello George |
The accompanying ramekins were used to mop up my drool.
Thanks
to World Kitchen, I have a couple of
Corningware lovelies for you to drape your chosen contents seductively in...or, you know, cook with.

Would love to find a casserole recipe that uses Amarula (like Baileys but better !!!!) in it - that would be just perfect !
ReplyDeleteFollowing blog. My favourite ingredient is French Onion Soup, it makes a great Apricot Chicken Casserole, French Onion Casserole, Sausage Casserole. Adds gorgeous depth of flavour and a delicious sweetness to tantalise the tastebuds
ReplyDeleteSaffron always gives a nice flavour to casseroles.
ReplyDeleteI alway pop in a jar of my home made tomato relish gives my casserole a beautiful rich warming flavor.
ReplyDeleteI love adding some fennel to a casserole. It's a great way to add some extra fibre, and the aniseed flavour from the fennel really enhances a plain old chicken casserole. A hit with everyone in my family!
ReplyDeleteI have shared on Facebook
ReplyDeleteLove the azure blue colour. Will have to cook something Mediterranean in them
ReplyDeleteI use my casserole dishes to make dessert. Apple and Rhubarb Crumble is far more delicious than a beef casserole, and I will argue with anyone who says that I can't eat it for breakfast!
ReplyDeleteWhat's a Clooney casserole without a bit of Pot belly pig..
ReplyDeleteFor the Casserole : lets try a Seafood Medley Pasta Bake with a hint of Spice and for the Ramekins : White Chocolate and Berry Creme Brulee.
ReplyDeleteI follow your blog.
ReplyDeleteMy perfect casserole dish would be cauliflower baked with mozzrella cheese. Its delicious when served straight from oven.
I tweete the giveaway

From puddings to casseroles to bakes, my casserole dishes are one of the most important dishes in my kitchen.
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking you, in a teeny weeny matching blue polka dot bikini, surely you could squish into the casserole dish after all it is "George Clooney"
ReplyDeleteChicken is the perfect casserole ingredient - cooked properly and its 'poultry' in motion.
ReplyDeleteCrayfish Mornay is my signature dish, so lucky to have a boat and living near the coast able to take advantage of the in-season catch. Perfect dish for cooking in Corningware.

Well... i found out that Casserole:- is from the French word meaning "saucepan" that is a large dish used both in the oven and microwave...and i would love to win the Corning Ware Prize to Make my special dish Heavenly Lamb Shank Casserole.....Cook the Lamb Shanks slowly in a generous amount of Red Wine this is best served with Mash and a Tom Cruise sauce drizzled over the top just before serving....Mmmmm so Yummy !!!
ReplyDeleteWTF are you mental making George Clooney cut outs like that? Some ppl need help.
ReplyDeleteMy signature potato bake:-)
ReplyDeleteI love a fancier version of Mac and Cheese. Its called Pesto and Proscuitto Macaroni Bake. Cooked in cornflour blue corningware would go down well with a glass of Cardonnay.
ReplyDeleteBeef, potato and carrots - the perfect beef stew!
ReplyDeletePotatoes, cream, onion, garlic and cheese for potato bake.
ReplyDeleteI would make 'mexican mess'. Much tastier than it sounds. I layer all things mexican, broken up taco shell, tomatoes, beans (make sure everyone eats them, so you don't notice the smell), onions and garlic (once again with the smell!), and heaps of cheese, taco sauce and lots and lots of chilli's...
ReplyDeletewould be my scrummy mixed berry cobbler that has all the fresh berries u can get raspberry strawberry blueberry black berry ect ect then i then get a scrummy chocolate fudge cake mix and layer it out over the the berries evenly empty entire contents over the berries then gentle pour lemonade over the cake mix so it covers the whole cake mix dont pop the bubbles and then place in oven at 180degrees and cook for 25min. dont forget the cream and mint leaf to top off mmmmmmmmmmmmmm yummy
ReplyDeletenow wouldnt you like to feed that to george clooney ;)
ReplyDeleteFor me it has to be french fried onions. It pretty much beats anything that needs a crumb crust. On top of hash brown casserole, mmm.
ReplyDeleteMy awesome Vege Lasagne. Even more awesome as (at aged 40 and some months) I have finally managed to make decent white sauce for it. AND the 1 and 2 year old love this lentil filled meal. If only they knew what was in it.
ReplyDeletefollow your blog, Twitter & Facebook
ReplyDeleteI always use a tablespoon of vegemite in any casserole I make, you would be amazed at how much it enhances the flavour of the dish!

ReplyDeleteVeggie stew is best,
ReplyDeleteBut you must let it rest!
Let the flavours infuse,
And fresh herbs must be used!
A cinnamon stick. It turns the average casserole into a sweetly spiced, heady exotic delight where my dinner guests wonder if they've just landed in steamy Morocco!
ReplyDeleteTaco seasoning. I used it in a casserole donkeys ago, loved it so much I've used it in every single casserole since. Beef, lamb, chicken, you name it. Yum.
ReplyDeleteThe perfect casserole ingredient would depend on the dish you are making but rice is usually fantastic for thickening a runny casserole or to make it go further when that unexpected guest drops in.
ReplyDeleteA couple hand-fulls of Sultanas add a nice sweet surprise in any casserole
ReplyDeleteShared on Facebook thanks
ReplyDeletei like to make a lamb shank casserole with red sauce and dumplings

I grew up in the South, not Tasmania, but Alabama! My grandmother taught me to make the most spectacular Sweet Potato casserole. Yumminess topped with pecans and brown sugar, or when we were really good, with marshmallows melted/toasted on top. See? Real southerners aren't all Honey Boo Boo and Swamp People. We contribute by making vegetables into dessert! : D
ReplyDeleteAlways add a little vegemite, brings out the flavours so well.

ReplyDeleteI'll see your George Clooney and raise a Hugh Jackman. I like a touch of honey-bun with my meat.
ReplyDeleteI follow on gfc.
ReplyDeleteWhen I make casseroles, I always swirl in spinach (we all need extra greens, right?)
ReplyDeleteNutritional Yeast, its a great cheese substitute :)
ReplyDeleteThe one ingredient I use in all my casseroles is Garlic Salt (Masterfoods) Enhances the Flavour and Taste yum :)
ReplyDeleteI like to make a Salmon Casserole with a tin of Salmon, mashed potatoes, diced onions, corn layered in a casserole dish with a white sauce between layers and a tin of whole tomatoes over the top and then baked in the oven...it is delicious and the kids love it too! You may even hide a few more vegies in there for the kids.
ReplyDeleteMy perfect ingredient would be Jamie Oliver. He'd add that extra special touch to my Baked Ham and Pea Risotto!
ReplyDeleteMy perfect ingredient would be the one that NO-ONE whinges about..... I haven't found it YET but I refuse to give-up! Failing that.... chilli; noone can whinge when their mouth is burning off ;)
ReplyDeleteYou can not beat good old fashioned Bread and Butter Pudding, made by awesome CWA Ladies, a generation of Aussies have grown up with it!

Spices create an interesting twist to a boring casserole, my favourite is a combination of cinnamon, cardamon, cumin & fresh coriander for an Indian flavour.

ReplyDeleteWe love Tuna Casseroles here. Sometimes I like to add a bit of chilli powder to add a bit of spice.
ReplyDeleteI love chunky celery in my casseroles. It's so tasty, especially in apricot chicken! Mmmm

ReplyDeleteall mixed in slow ration.

He can cook you blueberry pancakes - I said!

ReplyDeletethe perfect casserole ingredient is when someone else makes it
ReplyDeleteCornflour because, inevitably, every casserole I make is too watery and I have to add some at the last minute to thicken it up.
ReplyDeleteBLACK CHERRIES!... Surrounded by an almond-infused pudding mix.

Here's a pic of the ones I made: http://t.co/duHKJQxp I think they would be divine off their sticks, in a glorious casserole dish, perhaps smothered with more melted chocolate... that counts as a casserole right? :D

Hot dogs (well frankfurts actually) would be my perfect casserole ingredient. A family favorite made into a casserole and whipped up in a few moments using only simple ingredients. Perfect!

ReplyDeleteDoes that mean I get George Clooney to cook my casserole??
FOR ME, NOTHING SPICES UP A CSSEROLE MORE EFFECTIVELY THAN A HUGE SERVE OF SPONTANEITY. BASICALLY, ON THE SPUR OF THE MOMENT I JUST PREPARE SOME RANDOM INGREDIENTS THAT REFLECT MY CURRENT MOOD AND TOSS THEM IN. DOESN'T ALWAYS TURN OUT PERFECT BUT IT IS ALWAYS DIFFERENT AND QUITE OFTEN - SIMPLY DELICIOUS!!
ReplyDeletethe Black Sapote fruit as its a fruit and good for you but tastes like chocolate to make a casserole that tastes like chocolate without the guilt is my dream

ReplyDeleteI always love to add a teaspoon of Vegimite to my casseroles, and it would go just as nice with George Clooney!
I think i would call my first casserole ,the george Clooney scrummy meat and vegetable casserole. Delicious!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWell lets face it, George Clooney in not readily available on every supermarket shelf, so I so go for potato, carbs alway fix all. Leaving you with lots of energy to dream of all things Clooney!!
ReplyDeleteYes George is definitely good enough to eat, but I think I will stick to eating the casserole WITH him, and to make it perfect we can have some 'quality thyme' together.
ReplyDeleteI tweeted! :)
ReplyDeleteFresh salmon! You can make so many delicious casserole meals that are hearty, healthy and light! Salmon is so easy and fast to cook and full of nutrition!
