Today signals the final week of Kindergarten phasing-in. Praise the vodka gods and No FFS!?
To say I'm relieved the phasing in period is over is as much of an understatement as saying Lindsay Lohan doesn't mind the odd drink.
Last week it was a head lice outbreak on day 1, this week some moron didn't read the welcome letter and phase in details correctly. FFS!?
Well, I did read it, but I stopped at the bit where it said the Twin Tornado were being phased in on the afternoons of their designated Kindy days.
Right below that was a second, bold, very clearly worded and idiot-proof line that said the second week of phase in would swap to mornings.
I didn't read that line. FFS!?
I showed up at school on Tuesday afternoon, Twin Tornado bursting to see their friends, me anxious to run all the errands I'd saved up for the 2.5 child-free hours.
Silence. Not a child in sight.

The teacher came out and very kindly reminded me that it was mornings this week, not afternoons.
MoFo FFS!?
I stood there, backpacks in hand, uniformed-up Twin Tornado in tow, and hoped like mad that the teacher would take pity on me and just take them for the afternoon instead.
After 90 seconds it was getting kind of awkward, and clearly it wasn't going to happen. FFS!?
So the whiney, hot (it was 40 degrees - just over 100 for you Farenheiter's) and now completely shitty, inconsolable and untrusting Twin Tornado were dragged back to the car. FFS!?
I was pretty much the same - whiney, hot, completely shitty and inconsolable, and equally as dubious as they were about my absolutely shit house parenting skills. FFS!?
I dragged our three, hot, whiney and disappointed selves around through all the errands. Needless to say, it took twice as long with all of us in such foul moods. FFS!?
Wednesday, a friend who has a girl in the Twin Tornado's kindy class, and an older daughter in the class next to Miss7 texted me, reminding me to take Miss7 to school that day.
Thursday, I got it right. Go me!
It was only then that I found out I hadn't missed 2.5hrs of child-free peace and quiet on Tuesday....I'd actually missed THREE POINT FIVE HOURS. FFS!?
I was beside myself at the 2.5hrs. I was absolutely devastated when I found out the classes go longer this week and I'd actually missed an additional hour. FFS!?

The only way to avoid anymore school dramas would be to home school!!
ReplyDeleteCareful, Ann, I'm fairly sure that suggestion is punishable by death or wine deprivation!
DeleteAgreed. That would be punishment and my survival mechanism, should I ever go insane and actually consider home schooling. Although, my sister is a seasoned teacher...
DeleteThe other way to avoid more school dramas is just to read the school notices all the way to the end !!!!! LOL
ReplyDeleteOpen another bottle and enjoy the weekend !
Me
I know, I know. I've been reading them twice ever since! And there are so freaking many of them at the start of the year.
DeleteFFS indeed - why can't school just START and then STOP!? We are not bloody rocket scientists. I hear you woman. Last night after a week of That Man not appearing until after 9 each night, I poured the biggest bloody mary I could concoct - it was the only drink i could imagine to end the bloodiest of mexican standoffs with the 4-yold. I lost.
ReplyDeleteI know! 8:40am to 3pm every day. None of the phasing in crap. No early close. No half days. Go hard, or go home.
DeleteBless you for theming your crap day - ole!
That would do my head in! I'm struggling with one kid three full days a week at kinder, my boob brain doesn't process change as quickly as it should. Eleven months & you will be in pure bliss, pre-primary!!
ReplyDeletePrue xx
What, wait...you get 3 full days? I feel completed ripped off.... we get 2.5 days.
DeleteI whined for Australia over the Twin Tornado starting Kindy. Now I've already commenced whining for Australia once again, this time over how long it is until they start full-time next year!
Phase in? Seriously? I've never heard of that.
ReplyDeleteAt my kid's school they had a three day week as their first week, that's as phase-y inny as they got.
What a pain.
P.S. Not laughing at your misfortune or anything, but I like this post so I've added it to Francesca's Festa of Favourites for February :-)

Seriously, what school? Because we're moving. I don't care if it's a remote eskimo outpost school in the Arctic. We're coming. Immediate 3 full days a week is worth it (plus that kind of climate just screams "Vodka").
DeleteAnd also, woohoo, thanks!
Week 2 has completely done my head in too. Teenagers are far worse. I'm on my second glass of wine. I would have shed tears over a 3.5 hour loss of 'Me' time x
ReplyDeleteI swear to vodka that 2.5hrs was going to be spent exercising too. Ahem.
DeleteWhy don't the teachers just highlight the important bits in the notes? It waould save the drama of having the read the whole thing.
ReplyDeleteExactly!
DeleteOr, you know, not even bother with the other crap....
Our notes come via email - paperless newsletters - which I love. But then again our school just through our kids in the deep end, started 9-3 from their first day at Prep!! I love your FFS - makes me laugh when I need it the most - eg every time I'm not sipping vodka :)
ReplyDeleteLMAO! It's the Kindy's fault for not using a bigger font on the letter. Always the school's fault
